XPS 8300 GPU Upgrade

Hi,

I bought my XPS 8300 back in 2011. It's been good to me over the years, but now I'm finding that I could use a GPU upgrade. It runs most games, but barely meets the minimum. I'm still running Windows 7, but plan to upgrade to 10 at the end of the year. It has the stock Dell 460W PSU so I'll probably have to replace that as well. I want the best bang that will run on this system, and fit in the case. It has the following specs:
CPU i7-2600@3.4GHz
Ram 16 GB
GPU AMD HD 6700

Thanks.

Reminder, Dell will not validate Windows 8/8.1/10 on this model. So you will need to search elsewhere for drivers.

I can confirm this is true,I have a dell xps 8300 and i just put a geforce gtx 960 in with a 550 power supply and it works great.I tried it with the stock 460 power and it does work however the computer was VERY slow so i upgraded it.I hope this helps someone because i had a very hard time finding this out on my own.Switching out the power supply is simple it took less than 15 minutes to put in the new card and power supply. Its a tight fit but worth it.The gtx 960 i bought is made by M.S.I.

Thanks for letting me know about the 550 PSU.  I was looking at getting a 600, but it's nice to know that a slightly lower wattage works too.

Do you know where you got the power supply or what type you got?  Just want to make sure I get the right one...
